Kirmen Uribe

Renowned Basque novelist, poet and playwright. His first novel, ‘Bilbao-New York-Bilbao’ received the Critics Prize 2008 and the Spanish Literature Prize for Narrative 2009, whilst his first poetry collection ‘Bitartean heldu eskutik’ (Meanwhile Take My Hand) – since translated into 5 languages – was hailed as ‘a peaceful revolution’ in the world of Basque literature. Uribe has taken part in several stage performances combining literature with other art forms; including music, video and poetry – one of which was documented by Basque filmmaker Arkaitz Basterra. Uribe regularly takes part at international literary festivals, and often lectures at top universities around the world.
